INSPIRED BY RENE MAGRITTE'S HUMOROUS YET INTROSPECTIVE "COLLECTIVE INVENTION", A PAINTING OF A BEACHED INVERSE MERMAID, I WAS COMPELLED TO LOOK AT LIFE AT SEA. I RESEARCHED THE LIVES OF MEN WHOSE OCCUPATIONS REVOLVED AROUND THE OCEAN. INFLUENCED BY THE UTILITARIAN FUNCTIONALITY OF FISHERMEN'S GEAR AND SALT WATER FANTASIES, I CAME UP WITH THIS COLLECTION.

I became obsessed with experimenting with surface design. Visions of human-fish hybrids were engraved onto softshell and canvas, using laser cutters. My digital patterns were brought to life with dye sublimation methods. In addition, I designed whimsical jacquards in knitwear, as well as, fun knitted surface textures. I even crossbred socks with boots, by molding silicone soles, which attached to the bottom of the socks.

here is an embarassing poem i wrote about this collection:

a loud whisper of surprising, silly, surrealistic touches.

who is she?

a young girl with the soul of an old fisherman.

let us dive deep into the ocean with her.

or, perhaps, we can frolic atop the water.

try not to contain yourself.
